It is Relay time

Hard to believe that it is time for the 2008 Relay for Life. Summer seems a long way off.

Our Wyoming Library Community Relay for Life team will take the field June 6th and 7th. This is our 9th year. 9 years of raising funds and awareness. 9 years of offering HOPE.

Please join us if you can. Take a lap with our team. Cheer on the survivors. Be part of the luminaria ceremony. Contribute to the efforts of the American Cancer Society.

Take a look at my page for Relay (there is a very cute picture of mom and me). http://main.acsevents.org/goto/chrisvb
You can donate online. Let me know if you would like to purchase luminarias-I have the forms and a few bags if you would like to decorate your own.

I started to Relay in honor of my mom. I continue to Relay because my life depends on it.

Thank you.

chemo and tornados

Chemo 51...and tornados.
Driving south yesterday I was passing through Wellington as the tornado was approaching. Lots of one-inch hail, lots and lot of pounding rain and wind. Cars and trucks pulling off all over, but it seemed to crazy to do that, so I plowed ahead. I think that was a good decision, since on the return trip I saw all the down power lines, trees and blown over trucks...It appears the strongest of the winds came through just after I got south a bit...WHEW! Went to Whole Foods and they were closing because of another tornado coming that way....slowly made my way to the Cancer Center where they were treating folks in their lunch room. The chemo room has windows. Everybody was tense-wanting to leave and get to their kids or pets...see what was happening with their homes. They are saying 7 tornados in the area. I called to see if I could come back north and everyone was hunkered down because of tornado warning sirens in Cheyenne. Finally got a window and got home about 5:45. We had more tornado warning sirens last night. Laramie go hit too. I talked to Cathy and they are still without power... and it was snowing! Good grief....let's head for the beach.

I will post my summer chemo schedule. It is all over the place.

Happy Friday, Happy long weekend!

LiveStrong

Next Tuesday (13th) is Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong Day. On the website it says, "At the Lance Armstrong Foundation, we unite people to fight cancer believing that unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything."
AMEN!

I know that I have written about this before--we were all gung ho about wearing our LiveStrong bands. We also wore the white (for lung cancer) Say it, Fight it, Cure it bands. We wore the purple HOPE bracelets for Relay for Life. Colors for every cause, every cancer.

Let's put them on again. For all who fight it. For all who stand by them. Let's show our support, let's raise awareness.
Let's put them back on with hope.

hugs,
chris
