Happy Fall!

I love the fall! It is gorgeous out today.

I had a so-so week. I had a couple of days of feeling like a sick person. I did not like that at all! So, I upped (hmmm, is that a word?!) my water, protein and took a walk or two. Things look pretty good today.

November is lung cancer awareness month:

Wendy Madsen and I are working on a letter to the Governor with a proclamation proposal. I will keep you posted on that.

B-12 shot and CT scan next week and on the 30th I will find out if the radiation was successful. To Ft. C on the 4th to start the Alimta. Bring it on!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

I completed 25 radiation treatments on Wednesday-hooray! The folks at Radiation Therapy were so great.

They gave me a "diploma" that read: Be it declared to all present that Christine L. Van Burgh having completed the prescribed course of Radiation Therapy with a high order of proficiency in the Science and Art of being cheerful, outstanding in high courage, tolerant, and determined in all orders given, IS THERFORE NOW ENTITLED to receive certification as an active member in our "Favorite Patient Club" subject to all rights, honors and privileges thereof.

Very sweet-and they all signed it-12 signatures. They also gave me an insulated coffee mug. I have been surrounded by such wonderful people.

I am reading a book called Cancer Fitness by Anna L. Schwartz. It is good-lots of good advice and information. Also comforting to read that things I have felt, symptoms, are probably related to the cancer and cancer treatment and not me being a lazy bum!

I have got to get more exercise-anybody out there want to be my walking/sit-up buddy?! I warn you, I am a bit noisy-wheeze, gasp! Amy Shelley and I have been walking every Wednesday at lunch-that has been great. We go look at gardens in town and get in a good visit. So, I can give you a reference!

I have been taking folic acid in preparation for the Alimta. You should see my finger nails! And, very cool news, I have hair and it is curly!

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Chris

Radiation wrap-up

2 more radiation treatments-will wrap up on Wednesday. Happy hour anyone?!
The folks at Radiation Therapy are terrific! The amazing people that I have come in contact with in all this over the last year have made the process do-able.
My throat is not as sore this week and my skin, front and back, is not too bad. I am tired off and on and soooo thirsty! Spent most of yesterday in the lounge chair in the shade reading. What a luxury!

Next up: CT scan (I have lost track of how many of those that I have had!) and another B-12 shot. Before I start Alimta I have to be on folic acid and B-12. I will see Dr. Kanard on the 4th and start chemo that day. If you are interested, information about Alimta can be found on the chemocare.com site (http://www.chemocare.com/bio/bio.sps?iBiographyID=12405).
If that link does not work, go to chemocare.com and select chemo drugs.

On another topic, a dear friend of dear friends of mine was seriously hurt while riding her bike outside of Laramie. There will be a benefit to help with medical expenses on Saturday in Laramie's Washington Park. More info can be found on the web page:
http://www.cyclewyoming.org/barb.htm. There is also a raffle and I have tickets for the cool cruiser bike that New Belgium donated. They are $5.00 each.

Take good care...every day is a gift.
