My Uncle Guy

Pics of us from 1990...just wanted to share some memories. The Haines paper called him a merry-maker. Indeed!

I am not liking Januarys

January is just not my month...I started 2004 with a roll-over on the Interstate. January 2005 started with the cancer diagnosis and chemo. January 2006 started with the loss of my beloved Uncle Guy. He died this Tuesday. He was just a few years older than me and was like a big brother. We grew up in Casper and I have so many memories of him. I am stunned and so, so sad. He died while out ice skating in Haines, Alaska. That is where he has lived since 1974.

I did not go up to Haines-the service is Saturday. Instead I went to chemo yesterday.

I know I try to send only positive messages....how about later?

Ok, ok, I will end on a good note. Can't help myself!
Yesterday at chemo my oncologist gave me a rock with the word HOPE on it. She always makes sure I know we work on hope.... Thank you.

Reporting in

After spending the 2nd and 3rd in bed I started to come back into the realm of the living--back to work Wednesday and started feeling pretty good on Wednesday night. Thursday was not pretty-green again. Started feeling better Thursday night. Sheesh! By the time I headed for Casper on Friday afternoon I was doing a-ok. Brought my brother back down here on Saturday after having a fun brunch at my grandma's house. She is amazing! 91 and on the go! Sunday my nephews came to Cheyenne to take Tige to Denver. I hated to see him go. We had a great time and got hooked on Sudoku!

My 2006 goals, in order to keep a handle on this thing, are to walk more, do more yoga and meditation, learn to knit or crochet (anyone know how and want to teach me?!) and spend more time with friends and family. You are all so healing for me. Thank you.

Hugs,
chris

Happy New Year!

Hard to believe that it is 2006! I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday-full of family, friends and fun. Mine was delightful....and still going on!

I met with Dr. Kanard on the 30th. Unfortunately, no shrinking. Damn. But, no growth. So onward with that! 4 treatments of Alimta and then another CT scan.
Had chemo (same day) and then my brother and I went exploring Whole Foods and Wild Oats. We were looking for some Thai ingredients, new ideas, healthy stuff, and samples! We had the best blue cheese while we were wandering. Lunch at Thai Pepper. Yum!

Next chemo is the 19th. Radiation oncologist on the 13th.

I hope you all have a wonderful year and that I see you soon!
Love,
chris
