Spring

I want to share two poems that my dear friend Jamie Kearley sent me today in a beautiful email message. (Thank you Jamie)
They are by Ted Kooser.

Gusty and warm

I saw the season’s first bluebird
this morning, one month ahead
of its scheduled arrival. Lucky I am
to go off to my cancer appointment
having been given a bluebird, and
for a lifetime, having been given
this world.

The vernal equinox

How important it must be
to someone
that I am alive, and walking,
and that I have written
these poems.
This morning the sun stood
right at the end of the road
and waited for me.
